The Broadway revival of Garson Kanin’s Born Yesterday will close on June 26 after 28 previews and 73 performances. Starring Jim Belushi, Robert Sean Leonard and Nina Arianda, the production opened on April 24 at the Cort Theatre, directed by Doug Hughes.
In spite of positive reviews, particularly for Arianda’s Tony-nominated performance as ditzy DC mistress Billie Dawn, Born Yesterday never took fire at the box office. The play grossed $237,370 and played to 46.11% of capacity for the week ending June 12. In addition to Arianda’s Best Actress nod, the revival received a Tony nomination for Catherine Zuber’s costume design.
Born Yesterday is produced by Philip Morgaman, Anne Caruso, Vincent Caruso, Frankie J. Grande, James P. MacGilvray, Brian Kapetanis, and Robert S. Basso in association with Peter J. Puleo.
